This featured session was at Rising Sun Farm Apple Orchard here in beautiful River Falls, WI! May and October are the times to use orchards for their blooms and vibrant fruits. Gorgeous!
I had the opportunity to photograph this sweet baby girl who recently had her one-year birthday. This shoot was pretty much all about her and it was such a lovely session! (I love being a lifestyle photographer!) I’ve worked with this family over the span of a few years now and I love that they’re open to my super-relaxed approach to photographing their family!
This is what one looks like, joyful!
Young kids just need time and space to be comfortable and that’s what I try to give them. If the environment is prepped just right, kids will be themselves and beautiful things happen! I really do think the secret ingredients are respect, patience, and really letting each child know that they’re seen and heard at each session.
This little guy stole the show and brought lots of smiles to my face, photographing kids is an adventure!

Something unique about this session is that we photographed this baby with her mom and dad individually. This is such a fun opportunity as a young family photographer because I get to see the unique interactions and document that. Now when this little baby girl grows up she’ll have pictures of both her mom and dad holding her, super cool! Of course I have to mention that her older brother was present for the session as well, which is obvious from the photos. This too was unique, and will provide an awesome supplement to their collection of photos we’ve previously done over this past year.
